Level 2 Principles of Manual Handling

A level 2 health & safety qualification awarded by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)

Principles of Manual Handling is a stand-alone level 2 qualification, aimed at all those who carry out manual handling activities at work and their managers. It introduces students to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and controls available, and what to expect from a manual handling assessment.

Successful completion will prepare students to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the development of safer methods and tasks, in co-operation with their managers and supervisors. The qualification is not intended to train students to carry out manual handling assessments nor to provide detailed training on particular handling techniques.

While this unit of study can be delivered as a stand-alone qualification and there are no specific pre-requisites, it will also benefit students who already hold the CIEH Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Certificate, or the foundation certificate which preceded it.

• · Manual handling injuries and the activities which cause them.
• · Manual handling assessment and control options.
• · Responsibilities imposed by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations.

The course is designed to be delivered within 3 hours, and assessment is by means of a multi-choice objective test which concludes the session. We charge £270 + vat to deliver this course to a group of 5-20 staff on your premises, plus travel charges in some cases. To this must be added the appropriate number of CIEH Candidate entry fees of £8.95p + VAT.
