Level 2 Principles of COSHH
A level 2 health & safety qualification awarded by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)
Principles of COSHH is a stand-alone level 2 qualification, aimed at all those whose work may expose them to hazardous substances, and their managers. It introduces students to the wide range of hazardous substances, the risks involved and controls available, and what to expect from a COSHH assessment.
Successful completion will prepare students to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the development of safer methods and tasks, in co-operation with their managers and supervisors. The qualification is not intended to train students to carry out COSHH assessments.
While this unit of study can be delivered as a stand-alone qualification and there are no specific pre-requisites, it will also benefit students who already hold the CIEH Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Certificate, or the foundation certificate which preceded it.
Topic areas covered include:-
- The range of hazardous substances and how they are identifed
- routes of entry to the human body
- ill-health and injuries resulting from exposure
- legal requirements
- preventing or controlling exposure
- COSHH assessment
- appropriate use of personal protective equipment
The course is designed to be delivered within 3 hours, and assessment is by means of a multi-choice objective test which concludes the session. We charge £270 + vat to deliver this course to a group of 5-20 staff on your premises, plus travel charges in some cases. To this must be added the appropriate number of CIEH Candidate entry fees of £8.00p + VAT.
